Everyone’s life journey looks a little different. We get on the train around the same time as our friends or family, but not everyone gets off at the same stop. Life can throw in some twists and turns along the way. Delays, cancellations, some unexpected stops, and unexpected mechanical breakdowns. Something that we love about photographing people is that we get a glimpse into their journey and can document it for them. Brett & Brittany invited us into their lives to capture their very exciting next stop.

Last summer, we photographed a wedding for an amazing couple, Andrew & Alisha. Brittany was one of Alisha’s bridesmaids, so we got to know each other throughout the wedding day. A few months after the wedding, Brittany reached out to us by email. She explained that she and her husband, Brett, were hoping to do a pregnancy announcement, as they had just found out they were expecting!

Brittany shared that this journey has taken a few twists and turns along the way. It took four years to arrive at this point, but what an incredible reward awaits them. After walking alongside our friends and family who have experienced these unexpected delays, I’m sure there were times of discouragement, frustration, glimpses of hope, and perhaps even despair. But all of those steps have strengthened them, and now here they are, announcing to the world the little one that they will be welcoming in July.

Brett & Brittany, thank you for allowing us to document this exciting part of your journey. We had such a great time with you! Even if things didn’t go as planned – between the fire that wouldn’t stay lit and the random extra dog that joined (on top of your own two dogs!), you guys were amazing! As Courtney mentioned, a big part of parenting is just rolling with whatever comes your way, and you guys did just that! We know you are going to be amazing parents and will have some pretty proud guard dogs to take care of your babe. We can’t wait to hear news of your little one’s arrival this summer!
