Pro Tip Tuesday: #1 The Importance of Photography

 

Before you set up meetings with any wedding photographers, we feel it is really important that you sit down as a couple and decide on the importance of photography on your wedding day. It is really beneficial that you are on the same page in what you’re looking for in a wedding photographer. Cam & I are HUGE advocates of open communication in marriage- get a head start by trying it out!

 

Some couples find photography to be a very low priority, and rely on those in attendance to capture pictures for them. Or perhaps a family friend will do it for a very low cost, or for free. Trust me, I’m one who LOVES a good bargain. Winners is my happy place, so I can understand wanting a good deal! While free is fabulous, I’ve had numerous conversations with people who chose not to hire a professional to capture their photos. Instead, they asked a friend or family member to do their photos because they had a “fancy camera”. Almost all of those same people, after seeing the resulting photos, shared how disappointed they were. The final result they received was not what they hoped, and they regretted not hiring a professional. This is a big day- a “do over” isn’t exactly an option!

 

The technology available to the world of photographers is incredible. It is changing every day, and there are more gadgets than I’m sure Cam or I even know about. While fancy cameras are indeed impressive, they can be overwhelming if the owner doesn’t know what to do with them. If that is the case, it may not result in the quality of photos you’re hoping for. Remember, these photos are the first of your family heirlooms- they are worth the investment!

 

If you both decide that photography is one of your top priorities, agree on the budget that you are looking to spend. The amount you could pay for a photographer can vary a great deal. There are a number of factors that come into play for the cost of your photographer. The number of hours you need covered, quality of products you will receive, education and experience, the number of photographers included- a LOT of variables come into play!
