It feels almost too early to say, but could spring really be just around the corner? The sun, the warmth, the melting snow – what an incredible breath of fresh air! Once the weather starts changing, we start booking more sessions again- surprisingly, no one wants photos done when it is -40?! We get so excited when spring rolls around, not just for the weather, but also so we can get back to doing something we enjoy so much – connecting with people and documenting their love!

This past week we had the opportunity to do just that! We were invited along to capture not only the engagement session but the actual proposal for Stephen & Sarah! We were elated to be part of the plan, as Stephen helped Sarah retrace some elements of their first date at the overlook near Candy Cane Park.

Stephen took Sarah’s hand, walking her across the wood planks onto the overlook. We hung back, capturing Sarah’s reaction as Stephen described the details of their first date. He recalled how they had come to Wascana Park, trekking the lakeside trails. Later, they stopped at Dandy’s for ice cream, and Sarah burst into laughter as Stephen produced ice cream, in a waffle cone, just as she had ordered that night. As Stephen got down on one knee, he suddenly became very aware of the gaps between the wood planks… Gaps that were definitely large enough for the ring to fall through! But thankfully, his hand remained steady and the ring finding its secure home on Sarah’s finger.

Although it was a nice day, as the sun dropped, so did the temperature. Stephen & Sarah were incredible troopers as we adventured along the trail toward the Science Centre. Their giddiness, excitement and love made our job an incredibly easy one! And, the coolness of the evening just gave them all the more reason to cuddle up together, and admire Sarah’s beautiful new accessory!

Stephen & Sarah, thank you for inviting us along to capture your proposal! In the moments where we stood back to be “a fly on the wall” and watch as you interacted together, it was clear to see that the love that you share shines so brightly. We cannot wait to be there, cheering you on, as you become husband & wife this fall!
