Pro Tip Tuesday: #7 Your Input

 

When searching for your wedding photographer, find someone that not only considers your input, but encourages it! Your wedding day is all about you and your fiancee, after all! The moments that are captured on the day will be your memories for a lifetime. If you have unique aspects to your day that you want captured, make sure to tell your photographer about it! Photographers possess many skills, but most of us would say that mind-reading isn’t one of them. : ) If you (or your bridal party) can give your photographer a heads up beforehand, that is really helpful! Knowing ahead of time allows your photographer to position themselves to best capture that memory for you!

 

You may also have ideas of locations you’d like to use- discuss those with your photographer! We want your photos to accurately depict who you are as a couple. If there are locations that are important to you, pass those along. That could include locations like where you first met, went on your first date, or got engaged. I love using locations that are meaningful to our couples. Those personal little touches are what make our jobs so enjoyable! Your input is so valuable, and should be encouraged. Suggest and discuss them with your photographer to see if they can incorporate those into your day. Or if you would prefer that your photographer handles all of those details, they will likely be willing to do that for you as well! Photography is subjective, as is any other art form. Ultimately, the creative control lies with how your photographer captures your memories in their camera. But I truly believe, as we’ve previously mentioned, maintaining an open dialogue with your photographer is really important! In speaking openly about what you are planning and hoping for, your wedding day will be a time for you to relax and enjoy. You can be confident in knowing that your photographer is in control and they have taken your input to heart!
