We love the Neufeld family. And not just because they are our own family… But because they are a fantastic bunch!

Tamzyn is Cam’s sister, and we are always thankful for the time we spend together. They farm near a small town outside of Saskatoon and wanted to celebrate the end of this year’s harvest with some fall photos. We love it when we get to capture their growing bunch!

These Neufeld boys, I tell you, each possesses a special kind of energy. But not just the regular kind of busy kid-type energy. They have a very particular energy that is closely tied to being raised in a small town. The kind of energy that thrives on fresh air, allowing your imagination to run wild, as their bodies run from daylight to dusk.

Our kids treasure the time that they get to pretend they’re town kids and always gladly join in their games every time we visit. You never know when you might look out the window and see someone standing on the fence, at the top of a tree, or running shirtless or shoeless down the street. All part of a beautiful, unabashed kind of childhood that is so free and very special.

While the Neufeld boys may be similar in height, looks, and non-stop energy, each has a unique personality. Elias is one smart cookie. He devours, not just single books, but entire series of books over a weekend. He cannot get enough knowledge and slightly reminds me of Johnny 5 from Short Circuit at how quickly he reads and retains all that information! Lucas is such a sweetheart. He has a crooked little smile, but a warm heart. He is such a hard worker, and so much like his dad, has a very analytical mind that is always keen to solve a problem.

The younger two Neufeld boys are Jarren and Ephraim. Jarren is a little jokester who can always bring a smile to our faces. He has developed a love of puzzle boxes, so he and Uncle Cam can often be found working through one together. Jarren is an excellent storyteller and has always been a bit of a risky little daredevil!

Ephraim, like any youngest sibling, is a little spicy, and I’m not just talking about his amazing red hair. He is feisty and can keep up with anything the older brothers may throw at him- literally, or figuratively! Ephraim has a dry sense of humour that just kills me. He can say something totally deadpan, and the rest of us around him are busting a gut laughing. Then you will only see the slightest smirk turn up at the corner of his mouth.

Mike & Tamzyn, you have some truly amazing boys. And we know they didn’t just arrive that way. You are both such hard-working people, and they see it. They know how hard you work for them, and there is no doubt that they know how much you love them. The family you have cultivated has been worth all of the sleepless nights through the newborn stage, the nights of sickness, the kisses to all the boo-boos, and time-outs. Parenting is a really hard gig, but you guys do it with so much love and grace.
