Winter in Saskatchewan can be so pretty with its white snow or thick frost, but who are we kidding, it can also be bitterly cold. Commonly reaching the -40 C that we have all come to know and expect over the years. So to shoot a wedding in February, in Regina, with Kenneth & Marrick filled our little photographer hearts with just a little bit of fear and icicles.

But thankfully, this February has been a little different than most! We had a warm snap of beautiful and unseasonable weather, that ended up leaving the landscape a little brown and drab. But just two days before the wedding, Regina was blanketed with a coat of fresh snow, and the temperature stayed mild. It was a godsend! That beautiful weather allowed us to venture outside in the snow AND without a crazy Saskatchewan wind, that even allowed us to breathe!

This February marked the start of something new for Kenneth & Marrick, the beginning of their forever journey as husband and wife. They tied the knot at Christ the King Roman Catholic Parish, with their three groomsmen and three bridesmaids standing by their side. This beautiful winter wedding was a celebration filled with so much love, laughter, and many cherished memories.

Kenneth and Marrick’s love story is rooted in a deep faith in Jesus, who has been at the center of their relationship, and now, their marriage. They chose not to see each other before the ceremony but wanted the opportunity to hold hands and pray together, so they opted instead for a first touch. Hand in hand, they stood together, seeking strength and guidance for the journey ahead, and committing their marriage to their Lord and Saviour.

After the ceremony, we took the wedding party to one of our favourite Regina locations, the TC Douglas Building. It offers great exterior opportunities but also affords the backup of a warm place for indoor photos. The wedding party was so much fun and very easygoing. Each of them was game for our goofy prompts, proceeding without question or any hesitation. It’s always amazing to us how quickly we can gain that level of trust with strangers. So thank you wedding party, for being willing to roll with whatever weirdness we lobbed your way- you guys were amazing!!!

At the Christ the King reception hall, Kenneth & Marrick introduced a unique feature to their reception – couch photos. Within the timeframe of 1 to 2 songs, they had their guests line up, as Kenny & Marrick sat on a couch, their guests ready to quickly jump in for a photo, and then exit to make room for the next group. This allowed them to capture a special moment with all of their guests in a quick and really fun way!

It was clear early on that the day was going to be filled with sentimental details. Marrick’s white Converse sneakers were adorned with gorgeous custom embroidery done by her aunt, bringing in their wedding colours and flowers. Kenny & Marrick are big fans of coffee, so as their wedding favour, they had spent the year prior collecting a wide variety of mugs for their custom coffee bar at the reception. Each person selected a mug, which had a custom stamp on the bottom, to use for the evening’s coffee bar, and then take home with them. Such a sentimental and unique idea!

Kenny & Marrick, as you journey through life together, may your hands remain clasped together, and your foundation firmly set on the Lord. May your love continue to grow stronger with each passing day and may God continue to sustain you as individuals and as a couple. We’ve seen the fruit in our marriage of how learning to serve the other with joy and love in even the littlest of things makes such a huge impact, and we encourage you to continue to serve the other with your whole heart. Thank you for making your faith central to your lives and your relationship!
