If you’ve seen a hallmark movie, I may not even need to describe the scene – a snowy, excitement-filled evening in Manhattan. A party to celebrate the coming of the new year. And- a surprise proposal! But what if it really happened? Well, for Haley, it did!

Jared & Haley took a bucket list trip to New York last December. They had a wonderful time, taking in all the sights that New York had to offer. They attended a Rangers game (on a night they happened to be playing the Oilers!) at Madison Square Garden. Bryant Park hosted an outdoor market, filled with local artists as vendors. They sipped hot chocolate as they walked through the displays, picking up a few souvenirs. Come on, what feels more like a movie than that?

They were going to be in New York for New Year’s Eve, so Jared was able to get them two tickets to a NYE party on a balcony overlooking Times Square. That way they could watch the ball drop with their own eyes, and Jared planned to do a little drop of his own! However, a plot twist occurred- Haley got food poisoning the day of NYE, and they weren’t sure if they would be able to attend. Thankfully, when the time came, she was feeling better and they made it to the party.

They were out on the balcony, looking out over Times Square. There, they watched the ball drop, and pretty shortly after that, security started ushering people out to close things down. Jared knew this was his shot, so he set up a little tripod with his phone, and suggested to Haley that they should get a photo together before they had to leave. While Haley was distracted (as she had started to feel unwell again), Jared grabbed the ring box (that he had handmade), got down on one knee, and proposed. She excitedly told him “Yes!” And Haley got a perfect, movie-magical NYE proposal in Manhattan.

Jared & Haley, we had so much fun with you at your engagement session! We absolutely love how you laugh and enjoy being together so much. Your genuine care and love for each other is so evident, and we can not wait to celebrate your wedding next summer, witnessing when you both say “I Do”!
