There are some people you meet that you instantly know are your kind of people. Sam has been that kind of person from the moment we met her! We first met as mutual wedding vendors at an event years ago- Sam as a very talented makeup artist, and us capturing photographs of her amazing work! Since then we’ve done multiple weddings together, a workshop for Regina photographers and even featured her as one of our favourite vendors!
As beautiful as her work is, Sam is an even more amazing human with a beautiful soul. So when Sam & Benton reached out to tell us they were planning their wedding, we were beyond humbled and honoured to be asked to capture this special day!
Benton & Sam got married last year but at that time, they were unable to have the traditional celebration they were hoping for. They felt that now was the right time to get their friends and family together to celebrate, and we are so very excited to be invited along for the ride!
These two are the cuuuutest! And I’m not just saying that- they are so incredibly adorable together. This session was full of so much joy and laughter. And I’m not talking fake giggles for the sake of photos- we’re talking “laugh until you cry”, tears literally rolling down cheeks kind of laughter. The way that Benton can make Sam laugh is so precious. He knows exactly what to do to elicit a joyful response from her.
They recounted their first date for us. Sam’s parents own a local Regina restaurant, where she worked. After having a crazy night at work, Sam ended up being so late for their date. So late that she didn’t even have time to change out of her work clothes. But she thought to herself, “If he can’t accept me with pizza dust on my pants, then maybe it isn’t meant to be.” Benton wasn’t phased at all by pizza dust and wanted to know more about this beautiful, intriguing woman, whose smile had won him over.
We had a blast at Benton & Sam’s engagement session. They did everything we asked of them- no matter how goofy it seemed to them. And by the end, you might have thought Benton came from a trained performance background, but believe it or not, Benton has no formal dance training! His wide “ta-da” style arms were just part of the natural flair that he brought to the session.
Benton & Sam, we cannot wait to celebrate your wedding in just over a week! Cheers to many more laughs to be had on the wedding day!
xoxo
Cam & Courtney
