For their fall family session this year, Kim & Lisa invited us out to capture their new Echo Valley getaway. We got to see Kabin Korchinski at Valley’s View, and we can 100% see why this is their happy place! This session was all about soaking in the joy of summer memories made and shared as this was their first full summer of cabin life!
One of Valley’s favourite passtimes is reading- well, that is like a gross understatement. This girl reads like nobody else – especially not anyone else her age! (A little proud auntie & uncle brag on this girl- last year Valley read the entire Harry Potter series, in under SIX MONTHS, at just SEVEN years of age!!!) Needless to say, she was more than willing to humour us by taking a moment to sit and read some of her latest book on the dock. The trickiest part was actually getting her to STOP reading!
Valley is such a sweetheart, who is so brilliant, and is so incredibly funny. We laughed with her as she introduced us to some of the insects and creatures that surrounded the property. A cricket she befriended on his way by, “Oh, this is James!” Or a very large, caterpillar slug thing, whose name was John. This girl is a ray of sunshine, and it is always such a pleasure to see how she has grown – both in height and personality!
The Korchinski family took some time out to do a little fishing off the dock- mostly for the photo op, but also very much hoping that they would reel something in. You could see the pure joy in Kim’s eyes as he picked up his rod, spending time doing something he loves, but more imporantly, getting to do it with the people he loves. He has such a beautiful servant heart and is always eager to help, which was a great joy to watch as he helped Valley with her fishing rod. Kim loves to laugh and he has one of the best laughs around. For anyone that knows Kim, I’m sure you can hear it echoing in your head even just thinking about it! It is infectious, in the best way possible.
As they sat together on the dock, dipping their toes in the water, there was an immense sense of peace. There was the calmness of the water and the quietness of the surroundings, but that wasn’t all. It is this family. There is a strength, boldness, and an ovewhelming sense of joy and peace. It warmed our hearts to watch as Lisa sat with Valley just giggling, listening to her updates in the book that she just read and caring so much for her tender little heart. There is so much intentionality and thoughtfulness in their interactions together, and it is so crystal clear that this is Lisa’s happy place – together with her family.
In stark contrast to those peaceful moments, the Korchinski family then embarked on a canoeing adventure. We may have laughed a little too much as we watched them get into the canoe, and the fear in their eyes (mostly Kim’s- who does NOT swim) as the boat rocked and nearly tipped them into the knee-high water. But once they were settled and pushed back from the dock, they became total naturals. They were like seasoned pros, laughter echoing across the water as they paddled and splashed along Echo Lake. Moments like these are exactly why capturing family memories feels so important—they freeze not just the smiles, but the shared experiences that make up our core memories together.
This session wasn’t just about taking pictures, but rather about celebrating what the Korchinski family has created together. Their cabin is more than just a building; it’s a place of intentional connection. A space where memories are made, where each season brings new experiences, and where love and laughter are constants. These images will be reminders of a summer defined by togetherness, joy, and the magic of having a place to call their own.
Kim, Lisa, and Valley, thank you for inviting us out to Echo Lake with you. Creating and capturing the energy, the laughter, and the quiet magic of your first full summer at Kabin Korchinski was an absolute joy. We can’t wait to see the memories you create here for many summers to come. Here’s to many more fishing trips, canoe rides (make sure Kim has his life jacket), summer reads, and the countless small, perfect moments that make your family uniquely yours.
xoxo
