It feels like just yesterday that we captured Ben & Megan’s engagement, full of laughter and autumn’s golden light. From Megan’s cheeky prank on Ben during their wedding first look, to the family heirlooms that made their summer farm wedding so unique and special, we’ve been lucky to document these treasured milestones. Now, it’s such a joy to reunite with them for another incredible moment: their first Christmas as a family of THREE with their baby girl, Rae.
Walking into their cozy home, we could feel the warmth radiating not only from the holiday decorations but from the overwhelming love Ben and Megan have for Rae. Their in-home session was relaxed, heartfelt, and intimate—everything we adore about lifestyle sessions!
We love in-home sessions as they provide such a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere – mostly for the little ones but even for the couple. There is a peace that fills a familiar space and we LOVE capturing some of the routines the family regularly takes part in. For Rae, that was reading one of her favourite books and building (or destroying) a brick tower.
As we began photographing, Rae was snug in her parents’ arms. Rae obviously loves reading with her parents, but was not always interested in what the next page would bring, so much as what it would taste like. It is so beautiful to see the love that Ben & Megan share to now be exponentially amplified in their shared love for their daughter. The quiet moments between them spoke volumes—the tender way they looked at Rae, and at each other, was a testament to the strength and beauty of their bond.
These two are naturals when it comes to parenting. The smiles of joy and the laughter throughout the session is like music to our ears. That isn’t to say it is all easy- there is always some tears, snot, or other issues. But even with any of the “regular life” that occurred during the session, these two adapted and did their parenting thing with grace.
These moments pass by so quickly, but they’re the ones that matter most, and it is always a privilege to capture them for the families that invite us in. Freezing these everyday memories and moments to always look back on and cherish.
Ben & Megan, it has been such an honour to witness your journey, from your engagement to your wedding and now to your beautiful new life with Rae. Your home is filled with so much love, laughter, and tenderness, and we are grateful to have captured these moments of your growing family.
May this holiday season be the first of many filled with joy, magic, and wonder. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for your beautiful family!
xoxo
Cam & Courtney
