Blayde & Hanna’s engagement session at Wascana Trails was one for the books! And not just because of the wild fall winds (gusting upwards of 90 km per hour)… But because of their love story that started with a haircut and brought us to this windy, love-filled day!

Hanna is a hair stylist in Regina and first met Blayde when he came into the salon for a haircut. When he returned home, Blayde’s mom complimented his new hairstyle, which she had never done before! After receiving such rave reviews on his haircut, done by his beautiful stylist, Blayde kept returning to Hanna for more haircuts. And over time, and a few haircuts, a relationship started to blossom!

Last summer, Blayde planned a beautiful proposal during a weeklong vacation in British Columbia. But of course, no great love story is without its challenges… What was supposed to be a winery proposal in Kelowna, with a private tour Blayde had secretly arranged, was promptly interrupted by the wildfires that devastated much of BC during the summer of 2023. Evacuations, hotel shortages, and gas station chaos left them stranded and scrambling for a place to stay. Thankfully, they were able to acquire a tank of gas and found a spot to rest and regroup before heading for home.

As they began their drive back, a spontaneous stop at a lake near Revelstoke changed the course of their day—and lives. Hanna, wanting to dip her toes in the cool mountain water one last time, asked Blayde to stay back with their dog, as the beach was quite rocky near the water. But he seemed bound and determined to go down to the water’s edge with her. At first, Hanna thought Blayde was just being stubborn, especially when he began to pull out the drone, despite her request to keep things simple.

What Hanna didn’t know was that Blayde had decided that after the other plans became impossible, this was the moment he had been waiting for. He was trying to get the drone up to capture the proposal that was about to happen. But then, another hiccup…

Blayde got the drone up in the air, but then it began to make strange sounds. The drone flew on a direct course, flying between their heads, narrowly missing them, seemingly on a deadset course for the middle of the lake. Quick on his feet, Blayde managed to rescue the drone. As a last-ditch effort, Blayde sneakily set up his phone, only for it to fall over during his second attempt to capture the moment.

By this time, after all his careful planning had fallen apart, Blayde decided enough was enough, this was the moment. He got down on one knee, and from that point on, nothing could go wrong! Hanna said yes, and all the hiccups faded into the background, leaving them with an unforgettable engagement story.

Fast forward to their engagement session at Wascana Trails– on one of the windiest days of the season. Despite the cold and gusting winds, Blayde & Hanna brought warmth and laughter with them, making the session feel anything but chilly. And let’s not forget their dog Tessa, who joined them for the adventure! Tessa wasn’t overly interested in the photos for the most part but moreso for the new sights, smells and sticks the trails had to offer.

We were so grateful to have the place to ourselves, which made the experience even more intimate. Blayde & Hanna’s connection was obvious throughout the session. Despite the wind blowing around us, they radiated effortless joy and love. These two have a natural chemistry that made capturing their moments so enjoyable and easy—they didn’t let anything stop them from being playful and affectionate.

Their wedding is set for next September, and we can already tell it’s going to be an incredible day. If their engagement story and engagements session is any indication, they’ll handle whatever comes their way with grace, humour, and love. We’re so excited to see them tie the knot and witness the next chapter of their story!
