There’s a bittersweet feeling that comes with traditions, especially when they’ve been part of your life for over a decade. For the Swereda family, our annual photo sessions have been just that, a cherished tradition, a journey we’ve shared since Jarrett and Teala’s engagement session back in 2014. From their wedding to the arrival of Lyla and Ian, and every milestone in between, we’ve had the immense pleasure of watching their family grow, year after year.

This year’s session marks the end of an era, as this is our final one together capturing memories for the Swereda family. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect setting to honour all these memories than the TC Douglas Building, one of our favourite spots, especially on a cooler Saskatchewan fall day.

The day of our photo session with the Sweredas was a crisp October day, the kind of weather that makes you pull your coat in a little tighter, but also reminds you how beautiful fall in Regina can be. Jarrett and Teala, as always, were up for anything, moving effortlessly between prompts and spontaneous ideas, never missing a beat. Lyla and Ian, now older and more independent and FULL of personality, kept us smiling and laughing throughout the session.

It’s incredible to look back on how much these little ones have grown over the years. Lyla’s curiosity and playful spirit shine even brighter than they did before. Ian, with his boundless energy and bright smile, bounding after his older sister wherever she went. Watching them chasing each other, jumping across the path around the exterior of TC Douglas or pausing to inspect something they noticed, you can’t help but marvel at how quickly these years have passed.

One of the most rewarding parts of these sessions has always been capturing the small, fleeting moments that reveal the heart of a family. Jarrett and Teala’s love for each other continues to be steady, warm, and deeply rooted, a foundation upon which Lyla and Ian have benefited from. Even in the midst of playful chaos with their kids, you can see the deep love that Jarrett & Teala share, and how it has continued to grow and evolve over the years. This is just one of the reasons why we are so honoured to document this family’s journey each year.

We always make sure to capture the family together, the kids individually, the kids together, but then we take a few quiet, (albeit quick) moments for the parents. Capturing Jarrett and Teala together has been something that we made sure to do every year. An important reminder of where this beautiful family began, showcasing their enduring love that sparked the existence of this beautiful family.

It’s astonishing to think that this session also celebrates a decade of their marriage, a milestone that deserves celebrating! Over the past decade and a bit, and literally a dozen photo sessions, we’ve witnessed their journey from a young couple dreaming about marriage to parents raising two wonderfully vibrant, curious, and joyful children. Each session, each photograph, has been a testament to the love, laughter, and steadfast devotion that define the Swereda family.

Saying goodbye to the Sweredas after the many years is an incredibly bittersweet feeling, but also one that leaves us filled with an incredible sense of gratitude. We’re grateful for their trust, their openness, and the countless laughs we’ve shared along the way. We’re grateful to have been invited into their lives, to witness their milestones, and to document the story of a family that has grown so beautifully, year after year.

Jarrett, Teala, Lyla, and Ian, you have been more than clients to us. You’ve been friends, a part of our CCP family, a prime example of why we have so deeply loved to do what we do. Your love, joy, and warmth have left an indelible mark on our hearts. This final session may mark the end of our annual tradition, but the memories we’ve created together will last a lifetime.
