Though the wind whipped and blustery snow flung about, the warmth and excitement inside the house were palpable. Al, looking so dapper in his custom Moores suit, waited to catch a glimpse of his beautiful bride. Today is the day he has been waiting for. For 24 years. Yvonne stepped out of their bedroom, into view, and twirled a couple of times, so Al could get the full effect.
Celebrating with them were Yvonne’s sister, Diane and her husband, Glen. Yvonne told us that Diane & Glen were “our people”. They have been through so much in life together. Diane & Glen were the two people they knew had to stand with them on this special day. The morning of preparation for the wedding left everyone laughing, and overwhelming ease overtook any remaining nerves left in the house.
Family & friends packed the hall at Zadack. Al, escorted by his mother, made his way to the front of the room and patiently awaited his bride. Yvonne stepped into the room, and then joining arm-in-arm with her brothers, Ron & Don, and walked toward Al. Barbara Jones officiated as Al & Yvonne, in the presence of those they dearly love, made their vows to one another, and became husband & wife.
The wedding was held at Zadack Holdings, which is special for so many reasons. The first being that Al & Yvonne are the current owners of this amazing property. This was the final season they were hosting weddings before they sell the venue. Al & Yvonne’s wedding is the last event held at the venue before it is sold.
Anyone who had the pleasure of working with Yvonne over the last number of years knows how hard she works to ensure your day is perfect. As fellow Regina wedding vendors, we’ve had the pleasure of serving alongside Yvonne and watched her serve so many couples so well. It was a pleasure to see her & Al on the receiving end of their own hard work. A job extremely well done to the Zadack staff who handled their special day flawlessly- as they always do!
Al & Yvonne wanted this to be a celebration like no other. Every aspect was so deeply personal, with special touches reminding them of those who have gone before them. Yvonne’s dad’s fiddle and one of her mom’s crocheted doilies adorned the decor at the wedding altar. Anyone who spoke of this couple had only positive and affirming things to say about them. Affirmation of the people they are individually, but the powerhouse they are as a couple. Al & Yvonne wanted a celebration, and let me tell you, they were celebrated so well! Though the day marked the end of an era, it was a beautiful day of celebration of new beginnings and possibilities.
Congratulations again, Al & Yvonne! Thank you for asking us to capture this beautiful day. As we heard reiterated on the wedding day, we can attest to your generous and kind hearts. It is clear to see that you both have a desire to leave the world better than you found it. I am also glad to see that, in the name of love, Al found his true loyalty now with Yvonne’s NHL team- the Toronto Maple Leafs! Cam & I wish you the richest blessings in this next phase of your life together as husband & wife and the new adventures that lay ahead!
xoxo
