If there’s one thing we’ve learned about Bill & Lindsay over the years, it’s that every session with them feels like catching up with old friends. From their engagement session to their beautiful spring wedding, to a snowy winter session that could have been pulled straight from a Hallmark movie. Every time we see them, it’s as if no time has passed at all.
This fall, we met them out at Wascana Trails – one of those magical spots that feels familiar, yet a little different every time you visit. The trails were warm and golden, touched by early autumn light that danced across the valley. It was another of those unseasonably warm September days that Saskatchewan gifts us every so often. The kind that tricks you into thinking that maybe summer could just linger on forever.
The leaves had already started to thin out in the valley, their bright colours fading to the soft rust of early fall. You could begin to feel the change in the air. And there, in the midst of it all, were Bill & Lindsay – grounded, easy, and so completely at home with one another.
From the moment we saw them step out of their car, we were reminded again why photographing these two never feels like work. They move together in such a natural rhythm, with such joy in their hearts, and an ability to make each other smile and laugh with just the slightest comment or gesture. For these two, there is hardly any need for posing cues. Simply put them in front of the camera and they are utter naturals.
When we first met Bill & Lindsay, their love was new and full of that wonderful, nervous excitement. On their wedding day, that excitement deepened into something steady and sure. And today, standing together at Wascana Trails, their love feels like home: peaceful, strong, and still unshakably joyful.
We spent the afternoon exploring the paths that wind through the valley. We didn’t need to venture very far to get some amazing scenery to photograph in. Bill & Lindsay have a gift for finding joy in simplicity. They never rush through a moment. They allow themselves to take it all in and allow the moment to naturally dissipate. They help to remind us to slow down ourselves and notice the beauty all around.
At one point, as we made our way down to the creek, Lindsay suggested they get in and kicked off her shoes without hesitation. Bill, with slight hesitation, followed his wife into the shallow creek. They stood barefoot in the cool water, the afternoon light just beginning to tuck behind the crest of the valley view. It wasn’t overly posed or planned, just one of those spontaneous, joy-filled moments that feels perfectly them. Their carefree laughter echoed across the water.
They so wonderfully resonate the idea of being at ease with your favourite person in the world.
We often say that our favourite sessions are the ones where we walk away feeling like we didn’t just take photos, we shared in a memory. This was one of those sessions. The kind where your cheeks hurt from smiling, you leave with your heart feeling full, and saddened that this is the last session we will have with them.
As we started to make our way back up to the parking lot and as the sun began to dip lower, painting the sky in gold and rose, we took a quiet moment to watch Bill & Lindsay together overlooking the valley. They sat on the railing at the edge of the trail, surrounded by the soft light of the prairie evening.
We love that we have had the privilege to document this amazing couple through multiple chapters of their story. We’ve seen Bill & Lindsay through the fresh excitement of engagement, the sacred promises of their wedding day, the cozy charm of winter, and now the warmth of early fall. Each season adding another layer to their story. A story that continues to unfold with grace, laughter, and a constant love that runs deeper with each passing season.
Bill & Lindsay, thank you – truly – for inviting us into your story time and time again. You two are the kind of people who make everyone around you feel seen, valued, and at ease. Your warmth is infectious, and your love for each other is a quiet, beautiful constant in every photo we’ve taken. We couldn’t ask for better clients, better people, or better friends. Thank you for trusting us to capture these moments. The big ones, the small ones, and the in-between. You remind us that love isn’t about perfection; it’s about presence. It’s about showing up, laughing together, and sometimes, just taking off your shoes and stepping into the creek.
We love you guys!
xoxo
