The night before Blayde & Hanna’s wedding, the skies broke open and poured with all their might. What was meant to be an outdoor ceremony at The Station quickly became impossible, and the plans that had been in place for months needed to be reworked in just a few short hours. By the time the wedding morning arrived, family and bridal party were already in motion, carrying decorations, rearranging spaces, and helping transition everything indoors at The Station. What could have felt like chaos instead became a beautiful show of love and teamwork. It was all hands on deck, and even as the hustle & bustle of the morning unfolded, there was a surprising sense of calm.
Both Blayde & Hanna were getting ready at The Station, and despite the shift in plans, excitement hummed through the rooms. Blayde described himself as nothing but excited, though it was clear he was carrying some nerves too—mostly about how his blue suit would look in the end. Hanna admitted to feeling a little nervous as well, but she radiated with anticipation. Watching them in those quiet getting-ready moments the morning of, it struck us how they had clearly chosen not to let the rain, the stress, or the changes in the plan cloud what this day was truly about. No matter what, by the end of this day, they were going to be married.
Their first look was one of those moments where everything else faded away. After years together, a daughter, countless memories, and even a few wild adventures—including a nearly derailed proposal in the middle of the BC wildfires—this was the moment where it all became real. Blayde was nearly undone with emotion when he saw Hanna in her dress for the first time. Hanna, on the other hand, couldn’t stop smiling, only seeing the man she was about to promise her life to. For a few breaths of time, it didn’t matter what the weather was doing or how the plans had drastically shifted. Time seemed to stand still, as if they were the only two in the world.
The rain fell steadily throughout the day, so outdoor portraits became a careful dance of timing and umbrellas. But we knew how much it meant to them to include Hanna’s beloved 1988 Corvette that her grandfather had given her. Even if it was just going to be for a few quick frames, we wanted to make it happen. Rain-speckled hair, damp shoes, and all—it was worth it. Those moments perfectly captured who Blayde and Hanna are: willing to roll with whatever life throws their way, and continue to find joy in the middle of the unexpected.
When it came time for the ceremony, the space inside The Station was warm, intimate, and full of love. Though it wasn’t what they had originally envisioned, it quickly became exactly what it was meant to be. As Hanna walked down the aisle, Blayde was overcome with emotion, calling himself lucky just to be standing there in that moment. Hanna, though overwhelmed by the whirlwind of last-minute changes, said it simply felt right—like she was exactly where she was supposed to be. That is the kind of peace every couple hopes for on their wedding day.
Inside the reception, the room was filled with warmth, laughter, and personal touches. Rybchuk’s Catering made sure no one went hungry, while Hanna’s friend Nicole, who had never made donuts before, created the most beautiful treats just for the occasion. The guest favours— plants Hanna had propogated and grown from her own plants, for over THREE YEARS! —were a perfect symbol of patience, love, and growth, just like Blayde & Hanna’s relationship.
Their first dance was filled with laughter. Neither of them could recall exactly what was whispered in those moments, but the joy and playfulness on their faces said everything. The DJ kept the celebration going, while their guests soaked up every second of the evening together. Through it all, their sweet dog Tessa was a constant source of smiles, weaving through the crowd with the kind of contentment and excitement only a much-loved pup can have.
And of course, there was their daughter, Harlow. At just over six months old, she stole the spotlight more than once with her wide, curious eyes, and those cheeeeeks. Seeing her in the arms of her parents during the bride-groom-daughter dance, surrounded by so much love, was a powerful reminder that this day wasn’t just about a wedding—it was about a family beginning a new chapter together.
That, more than anything, is what will stay with us. This day could have been defined by what went wrong. The storm, the changes, the rain-soaked shoes. But instead, it became a story of resilience, of rolling with whatever comes, of choosing joy and love over stress and frustration. That is exactly who Blayde & Hanna are. From their wild proposal story, to a cold & windswept engagement session, to this rain-soaked but love-filled wedding day, they have always met life with humour, grace, and the ability to keep the heart of it all in focus.
Blayde & Hanna, thank you for letting us be part of this beautiful chapter of your lives. Watching you become husband and wife, parents, and partners who support each other so fully has been such a gift. We can’t wait to see what your future holds as you plan, dream, and grow together. Whether it’s finally being able to call each other husband and wife, or heading to Barbados on your first family trip this winter, your next adventures are sure to be filled with the same laughter and love that carried you through your wedding day.
This day carries its own weight for us, too. This was the last wedding we will photograph, and it couldn’t have been more fitting an end. We are so thankful for this couple, and their day of beauty, resilience, and unrelenting love. What an honour to end our wedding journey with yours.
xoxo,
Cam & Courtney
