Much like those blossoms in spring, sometimes love blooms in the most unexpected places. For Charlie & Brittany, their love began at the Ministry of Highways’ book club. 

Their book club was a lunch-break escape into the world of literature. A chance to delve into captivating stories, and time to bond with fellow bibliophiles.

From the moment Charlie’s eyes met Brittany’s across the discussion table, there was a spark. Maybe it was the way her enthusiasm lit up the room as she dissected the latest self-improvement guide (Brene Brown, anyone?). Maybe it was the twinkle in her eye as she launched into a hilarious anecdote, as she carefully noted each time whether it made Charlie laugh or not. Whatever it was, a connection blossomed between these two bookworms.

So what does a first date look like for two book lovers? A trip to Chapters, of course! Surrounded by shelves stacked with thousands of potential adventures, they could have easily spent hours getting lost in the literary labyrinth. But for Charlie & Brittany, the most captivating story was unfolding right before their eyes.

As their relationship bloomed, their shared love for the written word continued. They even started a new tradition; each handpicking one of their favourite books for the other to read. Charlie gifted Brittany with the epic journey through Middle Earth with the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Brittany returned the favour, introducing Charlie to the fantastical world of Harry Potter.

Fast forward to a not-so-subtle April Fool’s Day, in the spring of 2023. Charlie & Brittany found themselves back at Chapters, where their love story began. Brittany even purchased the sequel to the book she had bought on their first date. Little did she know, the next chapter in their own story was about to unfold.

The day continued with a whirlwind progressive supper. It started with appetizers at The Hotel Saskatchewan, then continued with hearty mains at Victoria’s Tavern, and ended with a decadent finale of desserts at Crave. Exhausted from their delightfully full day, they returned to Brittany’s apartment. After their delicious evening, Brittany knew she needed a little bit of comfort to digest, opting for a well-worn Friends T-shirt and sweatpants to wind down.

But Charlie wasn’t quite ready to call it a night. With a charming glint in his eye, he announced he had a gift for Brittany. He handed her a beautifully wrapped package, piquing her curiosity. As she carefully unwrapped it, a special edition of Brittany’s favourite book, “The Neverending Story” emerged, its cover gleaming. Brittany was so excited to see it but didn’t give a second thought about why the gift might have been given.

Even when Charlie began explaining to Brittany that he wanted to be part of her neverending story, the penny hadn’t quite dropped for her yet. Charlie proceeded to get down on one knee and presented a ring. Brittany was completely shocked!

Given their love of books, it made perfect sense to do a portion of their engagement session in their home – featuring “The Neverending Story” as part of their cozy home library. Whether they were snuggling on the couch reading a book, dancing in the kitchen, or sitting at the counter with drinks, these two made it look so natural and effortless. 

We moved the session outdoors, in the hopes of catching a beautiful sunset. But alas, the smoky skies had rolled in, but that didn’t slow these two lovebirds down! Walking in step with one another seems to be second nature to them. The giggles, the love, and the embraces that Charlie & Brittany share are nothing short of a beautiful fairy tale kind of love story. 

Charlie & Brittany, your love for each other is as heartwarming as a well-worn classic. Here’s to many more chapters filled with laughter, adventures, and of course, plenty of good books! We can’t wait to celebrate your happily ever after with you on your wedding day this summer!
