“Now I hear tell that Paul Bunyan was born in Bangor, Maine. It took five giant storks to deliver Paul to his parents. His first bed was a lumber wagon pulled by a team of horses. His father had to drive the wagon up to the top of Maine and back whenever he wanted to rock the baby to sleep.
As a newborn, Paul Bunyan could holler so loud, he scared all the fish out of the rivers and streams. All the local frogs started wearing earmuffs so they wouldn’t go deaf when Paul screamed for his breakfast. His parents had to milk two dozen cows morning and night to keep his milk bottle full, and his mother had to feed him ten barrels of porridge every two hours to keep his stomach from rumbling and knocking the house down.”
An excerpt from Birth of Paul Bunyan, Maine Tall Tales. Re-told by S. E. Schlosser
A little over a year ago, our sweet little nephew, Oliver, was born. I’m sure his mom can say that thankfully, it didn’t take five giant storks to deliver him! I cannot believe it has been a whole year since I went to visit a teeny baby Oliver in the Regina General Hospital. Just have a look at the healthy little man he is today! His big toothy grin is a heart melter. And those little rolls are to DIE for! I am a sucker for all things buffalo plaid and chubby baby, so when my sister-in-law mentioned they were planning a lumberjack themed cake smash and birthday party, I was SO excited! Oliver dug right into that amazing cake with very little hesitation- good work on creating it, Amy- it looked amazing! Oliver’s big sister, Evelyn, when she wasn’t chasing bubbles, was more than willing to jump in and assist him with finishing up that cake! Her big blue eyes, paired with those amazing curls- goodness, she is our sweet little Curly Sue!
Oliver, you are one very sweet little boy! You have a smile that can brighten anyone’s day. Auntie Courtney & Uncle Cam love you SO much, my little lumberjack!
xoxo
