This past week it rained – A LOT. Streets in and around Regina were flooded and so many people discovered water in their basements. As we looked at the forecast for Thursday evening, knowing that we had an engagement session that night, we were a little concerned. With a forecast of thunderstorms, wind gusts of 60+ km, and the potential for 20+ mm of rain- ok, maybe we were more than just a LITTLE concerned!
Sheldon & Amy were absolute troopers. Rain or shine, they were committed to going ahead with the session. For obvious reasons, we were praying for shine! In the hour before the session started, the wind calmed, and we started to relax little by little. As dire as the forecast seemed before we got started, we are so thankful that with the exception of 5-10 minutes of sporadic drops, there was ZERO rain the entire evening!
We use engagement sessions as a practice run for the wedding day. They allow us to work with our couples on some of the prompts we might use and how we might help to pose them. But aside from the technical stuff, it also allows us the best opportunity to get to know who you are as a couple. During their session at one of our favourite outdoor locations, the University of Regina, Sheldon & Amy shared their love story with us. They told us about their plans for the future- even if they may still be uncertain at this point! We treasure those moments together, being able to hear about your dreams and we are so thankful to be invited in to capture them.
At the end of Sheldon & Amy’s session, we asked them to pray together over their marriage. To give thanks about where they are today, and to pray about the future that God has in store for them. As they stood there, with hands tightly clasped, and tears gently trickling down their cheeks, the clouds parted, revealing the most incredible sky. There is no better way to end a session.
Sheldon & Amy, we are so thankful for your relationship and upcoming marriage. It is so clear to us that the love that you share together is real, raw, and so deep. We cannot wait to celebrate your wedding in the next couple of months, and beyond that, to cheer you on as you begin your life together as a married couple!
xoxo
